Washington D.C. – Thomas Edison once said, “We should be using natures inexhaustible sources of energy — sun, wind and tide. I hope we dont have to wait until oil and coal run out before we tackle that.” Nearly a century later, the demand for electricity is only increasing, and the future of our energy independence still lies in these renewable energy sources. Energy Farms International is a consulting firm specializing in encouraging investment into solar, wind and geothermal energy for transmission and distribution. Lead by Leni Berliner, a recognized authority in the field of renewable energy and clean technology, EFI offers strategic planning and fundraising support. “I'm trying to generate mainstream investment in the clean energy economy,” says Berliner. “I'm interested in thinking out loud about where the new investments into these renewable energy sources are going to come from.” According to Berliner, the transition to renewable energy is part of a greater historical trend toward decarbonization. From 2006 to 2010, electricity generated from renewable energy sources nearly tripled, so encouraging development in the renewable energy supply-chain is a sound investment in our future. A greater reliance on renewable energy will reduce stress on our fossil fuel resources, provide jobs and stimulate growth. Still, fraught with misinformation and obstructed by entrenched interests, renewable energy is currently only responsible for just under seven percent of the U.S.'s electricity demand. While solar and wind energy have reached grid parity in cost, some of this capacity has yet to be connected to our existing infrastructure. “That's the gap we need to bridge,” says Berliner. “We're not going to run out of wind. We're not going to run out of sun.”
